Product Details

North Meadow Cricklade is close to my glass studio and I often walk there. So when the Floodplain Meadows Partnership announced their Arts and Crafts competition, I just had to enter! There were over 100 entries, including some from overseas and so I was delighted when two of my pieces were selected to appear in their calendar for 2022.

This piece is called 'A Natural Climate Solution' to recognise the contribution that this beautiful meadow makes to the climate challenge. It took many hours and kiln firings to make this piece. Each Snakeshead Fritillary petal, Meadow flower and leaf began life as glass powder (same size and consistency as talcum powder) or frit which was kiln fired to make individual components, which were then cold worked and fired to melt them into the final piece. The main meadow is made from a mixture of glasses, glass frit and powders. The river element uses transparent glass and bent glass ribbons to give movement to the river. The hedgerow and view of the church were painted by hand using glass enamel paints.

Due to the nature of the processes, each new piece will have minor variations from the pictured item, but the overall design will be similar. Some pieces will have fritillaries and other meadow flowers, such as buttercups. Please allow 7-10 days for creation and processing of your custom piece.

The piece is c28cm wide and c36cm tall (including stand). The stand is coated wrought iron.

Delivery will be via DPD door to door service. Please use the alternative product page for this piece if you wish to collect from the studio.
