North Meadow Cricklade and the infant river Thames are close to my glass studio. So when the Floodplain Meadows Partnership announced their Arts and Crafts competition, I just had to enter and was delighted when they chose this piece to feature in the calendar.
This piece is called 'River' and is inspired by the infant river Thames that flows past my Glass Studio. In Winter and Spring, the river is deep and dark, but in Summer, the water is shallow and full of life and sparkle. 'River' tries to capture the movement and sparkle of the flow of water. The piece is c27cm wide and c12cm high.
Due to the nature of the processes, the photos are of a one-off piece, but further creations can be made to order. Each 'River' is cut, assembled and fired for c24 hours in the kiln following your order, so allow 7-10 days for processing.
