This very special lantern has three panels of clear glass and one panel with fused glass cyclamens.
To make the cyclamens, each petal, leaf and stem starts off as glass powder (similar to talcum powder!) which is shaped and then fired in the kiln before hand tidying. The individual pieces are then arranged on a base circle of glass and fired for a second time to securely fuse the arrangement to the panel.
The end result is a lifelike piece of art - but unlike real cyclamens, yours will not need watering and the colours will not fade! Due to the nature of the process, each lantern will be a unique handmade piece of glass art.
The lantern is 21cm high (excluding handle) and each panel is 9.5cm wide. The lantern has a hinged door, so that you can place a candle (LED candle recommended) or a string of LED lights inside. Contact free click & collect from the Cricklade Glass Studio.
